Toronto 2016, apre I Magnifici 7 di Antoine Fuqua – prime mondiali per Snowden e A Monster Calls

Il Festival del Cinema di Toronto ha annunciato i primi film in cartellone, sbrodolando da subito una quantità infinita di anteprime mondiali e di anteprime americane che quasi automaticamente andranno a rimpolpare il programma di Venezia. Ad aprire la manifestazione sarà I Magnifici 7 di Antoine Fuqua, con The Edge of Seventeen, interpretato da Hailee Steinfeld e Woody Harrelson, chiamato a chiuderla. Per il resto il programma canadese ha davvero abbracciato di tutto e di più, snocciolando premiere del calibro di Snowden, nuovo film di Oliver Stone, e A Monster Calls di J.A. Bayona, American Pastoral di Ewan McGregor e Sing della Illumination, Deepwater Horizon di Peter Berg, JT + The Tennessee Kids di Jonathan Demme e LBJ di Rob Reiner, The Secret Scripture di Jim Sheridan e Mascots di Christopher Guest.

Tra i film che non saranno in anteprima mondiale, con ampie possibilità di passare quindi prima dal Lido, spiccano Nocturnal Animals di Tom Ford, già nel 2009 a Venezia con A Single Man, Brimstone di Martin Koolhoven, The Age of Shadows di Kim Jee woon, Bleed for This con Bob De Niro e soprattutto Arrival di Denis Villeneuve, che IMDB affida ufficialmente tra le braccia della Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Venezia. Il Toronto International Film Festival prenderà vita l’8 settembre, ovvero 3 giorni prima della fine del Festival italiano, per poi chiudere il 18. Il rischio, neanche a dirlo, è che la stampa americana voli direttamente verso Toronto, vista le proiezioni veneziane ‘replicate’ in Canada, come ormai avviene ogni anno.
