Oscar 2020, 92 Paesi sfidano l’Italia: ecco tutti i candidati per il miglior film straniero
Corea e Spagna favoritissimi, con Francia, Senegal e Canada a seguire.
L’Oscar per il miglior lungometraggio internazionale – noto fino a oggi come l’Oscar per il miglior film in lingua straniera – andrà ad uno dei 93 Paesi che hanno presentato le iscrizioni all’Academy, che ha appena rivelato l’intero listone. Il lungo elenco include pellicole in arrivo da tutti i continenti, con l’eccezione dell’Antartide, e per la prima volta del Ghana, della Nigeria e dell’Uzbekistan.
Due i veri favoriti al trionfo finale, e in entrambi casi visti al Festival di Cannes. Da una parte la Palma d’Oro Parasite di Bong Joon-ho (sarebbe il 1 per la Corea del Sud), dall’altra Dolor y Gloria di Pedro Almodovar (sarebbe il 5° per la Spagna). Sia l’uno che l’altro puntano ad ulteriori nomination, ‘maggiori’, vedi sceneggiatura, regia, attore protagonista e miglior film. Da non sottovalutare neanche il francese Les Miserables di Ladj Ly, il senegalese Atlantics e il canadese Antigone, di Sophie Deraspe. La Germania ha scelto System Crasher di Nora Fingscheidt.
L’Academy definisce lungometraggio internazionale “un lungometraggio che superi i 40 minuti di durata, prodotto al di fuori degli Stati Uniti e con una traccia di dialogo prevalentemente non inglese“. Il 16 dicembre 2019 sarà annunciata la shortlist di 10 titoli, mentre le nomination saranno svelate il 13 gennaio 2020. Gli Oscar si terranno il 9 febbraio. L’Italia, primo Paese per numero di Oscar vinti, non trionfa dal 2014, con La grande bellezza di Paolo Sorrentino, e ha puntato l’intera posta su Il Traditore di Marco Bellocchio. Lo scorso anno vinse Roma di Alfonso Cuarón
