Independent Spirit Awards 2020, le nomination – guidano Uncut Gems e The Lighthouse
La A24 domina le candidature ai 35esimi Independent Spirit Awards.
Altri film in corsa per il riconoscimento più ambito, A Hidden Life di Terrence Malick, The Farewell, Clemency e Marriage Story di Noah Baumbach, in corsa poi a sorpresa solo per lo script. Dimenticati Adam Driver e Scarlett Johansson tra gli attori, ma la pellicola ha già vinto il Robert Altman Award, assegnato all’intero cast. Tra le attrici protagoniste spicca Renée Zellweger per Judy, in odore di Oscar, mentre tra le non protagoniste fa rumore Jennifer Lopez con Hustlers, che vede in nomination anche la regista Lorene Scafaria.
Benissimo Honey Boy, nominato per la regia (Alma Har’el) e per i due protagonisti Noah Jupe e Shia Labeouf. Grande assente a sorpresa Jojo Rabbit di Taika Waititi, vincitore a Toronto.
Negli anni passati chi ha vinto l’Independent Spirit Award ha poi fatto filotto agli Oscar: Moonlight nel 2017, Spotlight nel 2016, Birdman nel 2015 e 12 anni Schiavo nel 2014. Lo scorso anno vinse If Beale Street Could Talk, nel 2018 Get Out. La premiazione andrà in scena l’8 febbraio 2020.
